Welcome to Mission Discovery LS Science Missions for the summer. For the next three months, we will have a variety of activities. Some activities are inside activities. Some activities are outdoors activities. You can do them whenever you want during the summer. You can also choose do additional discoveries using the resources on the Home Page and Discovery Center. Whenever you explore, always make sure to write down what you did and what you learned on a Mission Discovery Report or in a Explorer notebook (read the Mission Reports section for more information).
Always do your Discovery Missions with a Science Buddy. A Science Buddy is an adult that will allow you to get online, help gather materials, and will work safely with you to do the Mission Discovery Explorations. Always work safely.

Our mission today is all about color.
In art we mix colors to make other colors. Interesting things happen when we mix colors in another way.
This mission is from the Steve Spangler Sick Science series.
There are two videos below. They will show you how to make a disappearing color wheel and a color mixing wheel. Not only do these wheels show some pretty cool science, but they are super fun to play with too! Under each video is a link to the experiment descriptions that you can print. Try to avoid reading the "How Does It Work" section until after you have made some of your own observations.
Make sure to record what you did and what you discovered on a Mission Discovery Report or in an Explorer Notebook.
